l have an infestation of flies in one room of my house. There is nothing in there to attract them. How can l get rid of them? I'd prefer something natural but I will buy pesticides if necessary.

check your plants and firewood to see if they are bedding in them. bugs/pests are looking for somewhere to bed down for the winter. also check windows and such for air leaks as well. they can come in that way too. good luck.

Kim & Aggie, two wonderful British women on the BBC America show, How Clean is Your House?, recommend pouring a little apple cider vinegar in a small jar (like a jelly jar) - about an inch or so. Add a few drops of liquid dish detergent (they do not mention brands, do not know if some brands r the same here as there, but it looks like they use Palmolive, the green stuff). The dish liquid decreases surface tension & the flies sink. Cover the jar with plastic wrap, & poke a couple of holes (large enough for them to get into, but not too large) in the top & wait. The scent of the vinegar will attract the flies (smells like rotting fruit to them; any sweet vinegar will do, just not the white stuff). They will go in through the holes in the top, & can not get out so they drown.
If the BBC America channel is available where u live, you've got to check it out, unless u r squeamish. These women r NOT afraid to get their hands dirty (although the one is terrified of rats/mice!) They will put their hands where no one is hands should ever be - they lift toilet lid & .well, let is just say that some people do not clean under the seat very well if at all. I thought my house was a mess, but the people whose homes they go into live in hovels. At least mine is only cluttered (& not to the extent of these!), but theirs is so much filthier than the word ''filthy'' implies. If u can get past that & figure out when to close ur eyes, it is ok. Ok, commercial over. :-)

if you call an extermination company and ask them, I am sure they may help find the problem. however, make sure there is no old scraps of food behind/under furniture.even in a room next to the one they ar einfesting.and also RAID should help..or a fly repelent candle

you can buy these things at like a walmart in the area where mouse traps and pesticides are, they are called fly ribbons and you hang them from your ceiling and they pull out this sticky tape with a sent that the flies are attracted to but us humans cant smell it, and it traps all the flies by sticking them and then you throw them away,
